Sunset 3 January - Naomi Bedworth
I traced every square of the city that I could manage, remembering the events, the occasions, the music and, most of all, the friendships treasured.

It was so interesting to look across the top of Hull in this way – and still could not tell you what some of the buildings actually are – everything looks slightly in the wrong spot from up here!

I loved every single moment of my time in the box – feeling completely removed from everyday life while also feeling completely connected to it.

It was a beautiful experience, watching the sun with all the changing clouds. To look from above everyone else and to be able to see people down below and think what lives they were all living.
20/01/22
The sun dropped like an orange over Princes Quay and quickly disappeared to bring an end to an amazing experience. What a great way to start a new year, a year filled with hope and optimism. Bring on 2022.

I wasn’t expecting a New Year epiphany but this was something close. Hull, bathed in sunlight, my home, our home. My resolution for Hull, for 2022? Let’s have an even greener city, a fairer city and a more equal city for everyone.
20/01/22
I felt blessed to be able to see the sunset for the last time this year, from such a beautiful angle. Watching people walking below and wondering what their story is and how their 2021 has been.

. A cloudy morning but no heavy rain – no rain at all – so relatively clear but no sight of the sun. Until around five minutes before the end of my vigil when a patch of misty light appeared and a bright, round, white ‘light bulb’ sun glared in the background.

I cast a spell
I shed some tears
I saw myself
through the years

The hour passed so quickly, it was good to have a moment, to take stock of the beautiful city of Hull when this time next week I will be back to rushing about, getting my son ready for school and back into my fast-paced life.

To look out on the City and see it in a whole new perspective was amazing! Just seeing the view of the Humber Bridge, the City Hall and looking out at the East of the city over the river was also amazing!
20/01/22
Wow! The sound of the wind and the birds, the clouds moving across the city, the rain only on the East window, the sense of calm, of silence, of being a part of the city whilst so high above it.
20/01/22
A lovely hour spent with my own thoughts on my Birthday looking out over my home city.
20/01/22
On this rainy, foggy morning I loved being able to see more of the city as the sun rose, the fog lifted and the fog of my own memories cleared.
20/01/22
An hour to myself! In some senses a challenge and in others a treat. Such a view and lovely to be reminded of how close we are to water.
20/01/22
An utterly fascinating and calming experience. Although the view was hindered by the fog, my eye focused on the geometric patterns on the buildings close by.

It was a perfect time of year to do this as I was able to reflect on the year behind me and look forward to the next year ahead. It was a lovely experience and wished it could have been longer.

On the east side the gale howled and the window was covered in rivulets of rain with the droplets racing at speed down it, making there seem very little difference between the early dawn and the morning light.
18/01/22
The sky was just lovely and the seagulls were great companions. It is an experience that will grow with me and something that I will always remember.
