I was fortunate to be able to hear the bells from Hull Minster during the second half of the vigil which added to the magic of the evening.  What a privilege to be able to keep watch over our little city as it settles down for the night.  Despite the busy goings-on below I felt very peaceful and the experience felt like an important responsibility.  Perhaps we should keep the vigil for longer – or permanently – and make the job a civic role like jury duty!
