Sunrise 8 November - Rebecca Draper
It was a completely unique experience to stand above the city and watch it wake up. The light of the sun reflecting in the Humber drew me toward it inexorably; I think I will cycle along it soon. I saw the Venn Bridge raise and allow a barge to pass; it struck me that neither mode of transport could move ahead while the other was in motion but the birds could go wherever they pleased. I wished I was a bird, not for the first time in my life. A fly landed on the glass and I realised the limitations of the six walls that contained me. I still had to take one last look before I left.
