Sunrise 18 September - Bernard France

Firstly, I would like to thank Hanna and the Freedom Festival team for the opportunity I have had this morning.  Thanks also to Meg my able Companion. 

Well, what can I say?  It’s a really special way to celebrate my 77th birthday.  To see the sun edging above the low clouds and then to disappear into more clouds only to appear later in a cloud-free sky was a feeling that all is well. 

My memories will be of the graffiti on the wall of Shotwells saying COVID 19 to which someone has added 84!  The siren from a Fire Engine racing along Alfred Gelder Street and into Carr Lane.  I didn’t see any sign of a fire.  And lastly, my wife , two of my children and their children with a banner saying, ‘We      Papa’ and waving.  I had to wave back.
