Sunrise 17 February - Kat Sanders
It began with a full moon on the west and Venus to the south. Both hardly moving, especially compared to Hull, home, below. And then the sun joined us. I’ve never seen a sunrise before. I mean, I’ve watched it rise, but never properly looked and seen it. That initial brightness on the horizon, ascending fast and yet also slow. Still slower than Hull. I could see all the edges. A perfect sphere on the horizon and then just a light. Its height taking away its shape but illuminating all below it to be seen. To stand vigil over Hull on this winter morning has been a privilege. To feel the sun’s hesitant winter warmth through the glass and to stand at the back of Wilberforce to watch over the city. I won’t ever forget this timeless experience.
