Sunrise 10 December - Catherine Law
Birds fly high keep vigil on a city awakening
Traffic moves busy, slow
Buildings like Lego
I think of you on this day taken
How connected I feel through this city
Despite connections of those gone before us
We share the same roads,
Walk the same paths
Pavements walked, buildings visited
I see them all from my glass house vigil
Buildings tall, round, square
High graffiti walls
Bridges Venn and Humber
Glass building housing art
Small spaces of uniqueness
Green roofs, patterned gardens
Tall trees as small as weeds
In this box of calm, tranquillity
I see the dark sky turn blue
in an instant
Squinting sun comes into view
As the water that surrounds us
as far as the eye can see
A horizon of calm
I feel the oneness of the city
I am grateful for the privilege
in seeing our city awaken
on this day, the birds now flying low
Keep safe, we are the smallness
of our shared surroundings
Never taken for granted
A city full of memories made
I see you.
