Sunrise 1 September - Pete Massey
The sun rose imperceptibly and the only thing marking time was the slow progress of the Rotterdam ferry appearing as a smudge in the estuary and slowly, slowly coming in to dock.
The city, completely unaware of itself, came to life before me and it was a joy to behold.
It was impossible to not trace one’s own history on to the city spread out – thinking of friends still here, friends gone and some gone forever. But mostly it was entirely joyful. There is a determination to life, which is obvious to see if you happen to be able to spend some time in a wood and glass box above a city as it awakes.
Thank you.
